Concrete Grates

A drain grate is a slotted or perforated cover placed over a surface drain or trench drain. It allows water to enter while keeping out leaves, debris, and helping prevent people from stepping into the drain.

If your goal is to capture surface water, you can:

  • Install a catch basin with a grate and connect it to the same drain pipe.
  • Use a trench drain with a grate across areas like driveways or patios.
  • Combine a grated inlet with a French drain system to handle both surface runoff and groundwater.

Materials

  • Plastic (HDPE/PVC): Affordable, corrosion-resistant, suitable for residential use.
  • Galvanized steel: Strong and economical but can rust over time.
  • Stainless steel: Corrosion-resistant and attractive, often used around pools and patios.
  • Cast iron: Very durable and ideal for heavy loads, such as driveways.
